The Whites of Lazio & Sicily

Ferentano, Cotarella (Lazio)

A rare gem from the Lazio region, Ferentano is crafted from 100% Roscetto — a small-production white grape grown near Rome. This wine pours a beautiful golden hue and greets you with aromas of tropical fruit, sweet corn, fresh herbs, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, it’s lush and full-bodied with a long, intriguing finish. A sophisticated sip that feels like autumn sunshine in a glass.

Falesco “Est! Est!! Est!!!” di Montefiascone (Lazio)

Yes, that’s really the name — and yes, there’s a story behind it. Legend has it that a wine-loving bishop once sent his scout ahead to mark inns with “Est” (“It is”) when the local wine was good. When the scout reached Montefiascone, he found wine so delicious that he wrote “Est! Est!! Est!!!” above the door. Made from Trebbiano, Malvasia, and Roscetto, this white is bright and lively, with aromas of citrus, apple, and white flowers. Fresh pear and melon glide across the palate for a crisp, easy-drinking finish. One sip and you’ll understand the bishop’s excitement.

Cavallo delle Fate Grillo, Tenuta Regaleali (Sicily)

This 100% Grillo is as enchanting as its name, which means “Horse of the Fairies.” Once thought to carry fairies on its back, this grape now carries complex flavors of honeysuckle, pear, melon, lemon zest, and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it’s rich yet lively — with creamy layers and mineral undertones that keep you coming back for another sip.

Regaleali Bianco (Sicily)

An enduring classic — for over six decades, Regaleali Bianco has represented the very essence of the Regaleali estate. A blend of Inzolia, Grecanico, Catarratto, and a touch of Chardonnay, it’s aromatic and balanced with hints of orchard fruit and citrus. If you’re a fan of clean, refreshing whites that pair beautifully with seafood or salads, this one’s for you.

The Reds of Sicily & Lazio

Sodale Merlot (Lazio)

Deep ruby red and beautifully balanced, Sodale offers lush notes of red fruit, vanilla, and sweet spice. The palate is smooth and harmonious with silky tannins and just enough oak to round things out. A perfect cool-weather red that pairs effortlessly with roasted meats or a cozy pasta night.

Lamùri Nero d’Avola, Tasca d’Almerita – Tenuta Regaleali (Sicily)

“Lamùri” means “love” in Sicilian dialect, and you’ll feel exactly that for this expressive red. Made from Sicily’s signature grape, Nero d’Avola, it’s packed with black cherry, plum, vanilla, tobacco, and wild herbs. Velvety tannins and bright acidity make it elegant yet approachable — a true crowd-pleaser that shows off Sicily’s generous spirit.

Guarnaccio Perricone, Tasca D’Almerita – Tenuta Regaleali (Sicily)

First described in 1735, the Perricone grape (known locally as Guarnaccio) is one of Sicily’s ancient treasures. Grown in the historic San Lucio vineyard, this wine is rich with spice, earth, and dark fruit, grounded in old-world character. It’s a bold, soulful red with depth and history in every glass.

A Toast to Italy’s Ancient Roots

From the volcanic soils of Sicily to the storied vineyards of Lazio, these wines remind us that Italy’s magic lies in its diversity. Each bottle tells a story — of family, tradition, and the land itself.

So grab your October Wine Club pack, open a bottle (or two), and let’s raise a glass to good wine, good food, and good company.

🍷 Cheers,

Katie
